Stingray Central is the long time solo project of John Stenger. Starting as humble bedroom recording project with one microphone in 2016, John’s work has expanded into lush arrangements with frequent collaborations and guest musicians.

Cutting his teeth in garages, basements, and DIY spaces playing drums for the Indie-Punk Sloth Hands, John graduated to larger stages as a core member of Chicago Indie-Rock band The Darling Suns. With the Darling Suns he played Chicago extensively and toured the country until their disbanding in mid 2025.

A new era of Stingray Central beings in 2026 as John emerges from the studio with a group of seasoned musicians to bring his songs to the stage.
